BestReviews’ Genius Products Awards of CES 2026

Image
LAS VEGAS — The BestReviews team was enthralled by all the incredible innovations present at CES this year. However, among all the bright studio lights, eye-catching displays and rideable luggage zooming through the halls, it was easy to get distracted. We even saw a bone-conduction lollipop that can play a song in your head while you eat it. But while snacking on a song is a fun party trick, that kind of audio magic is usually more useful in practical gear — like the pair of open-ear headphones we tried that let you listen without completely blocking out the world around you. Sign up for the BestReviews newsletter: Exclusive deals and expert picks, in your inbox. The products that stick with us tend to be the ones you can picture using next week. The Genius Product Awards cut through the noise to spotlight the standouts that feel truly thoughtful, with real-world usefulness, innovative design and a clever reason to exist.

Crash and fire unfold near overpass bridge, force officials to close all lanes of Interstate 65 northbound on south side of Indianapolis

Image
INDIANAPOLIS — A crash and fire forced officials to close Interstate 65 northbound on the south side of Indianapolis Sunday night. According to a notification from the Indiana Department of Transportation, all lanes of I-65 northbound were shut down at mile marker 109 near Raymond Street around 6:30 p.m. INDOT’s initial notification indicated that a crash was the reason for the closure. Photo of the scene on I-65 northbound at mile marker 109 captured by an INDOT camera. A second notification on the road closure, which INDOT sent around 7:40 p.m., reported that an I-65 overpass bridge over railroad tracks had been damaged by fire near mile marker 109 and Raymond Street. A bridge inspector was called to the scene to examine the damage the fire caused. Indiana State Police — the agency tasked with investigating the crash and fire — diverted traffic off of the interstate onto Raymond Street while crews worked at mile marker 109. At 8:38 p.m., INDOT reported that an inspector had det...

Ticket prices remain hot for Monday night’s Indiana-Miami CFP title game

Image
Ticket prices for Monday night’s College Football Playoff national championship game between Indiana and Miami have dropped only slightly from their peaks, with supply obviously low and demand obviously high. Ticketdata, which tracks resale pricing of tickets across major marketplaces, said the lowest get-in price for the game at Hard Rock Stadium was $3,652 at midday Sunday. That number — based on a two-ticket purchase, including fees — was down about 8% from where it was at midday Saturday. Many sites still showed some tickets topping $10,000 apiece in the best sections of the lower bowl of the stadium, and some parking passes — no game ticket included — were topping $1,000 online, though a few could be found in remote lots for as little as $100 or so. Earlier in the week, CFP executive director Rich Clark was asked about how ticket prices at Hard Rock Stadium for the game were topping the secondary-market costs for Taylor Swift shows at the same stadium during her recent world ...

Vice President JD Vance, President Donald Trump take aim at Indiana State Senator Rod Bray in social media posts about redistricting

Image
INDIANAPOLIS — Vice President of the United States JD Vance took aim at Indiana State Senator Rodric Bray in   a post on X   Saturday afternoon. The post pertained to the Virginia State Senate’s decision to  advance a proposed constitutional amendment  to redraw the state’s congressional maps. According to the Associated Press, the Virginia State Senate skews more Democratic than Republican. “I’d like to thank (Bray) for not even trying to fight back against this extraordinary Democrat abuse of power,” Vance wrote in his post. “Now the votes of Indiana Republicans will matter far less than the votes of Virginia Democrats. We told you it would happen, and you did nothing.” President of the United States Donald Trump also targeted Bray in a  Truth Social  post on Saturday night. Trump’s post did not go into details as to why or how, but he stated that he and David McIntosh of the  Club for Growth  have agreed to “take out” Bray. “I was with D...

Stephen A. Smith: Trump will cost GOP midterms, possibly White House

Image
Sports commentator   Stephen A. Smith  warned Thursday that the Trump administration’s policies   could cause Republicans   to lose   this year’s midterms .  “To all the Republicans out there, to all the conservatives out there: You’re about to lose the midterms,” Smith said during an episode of his SiriusXM show. “You’re going to lose, and you might lose the presidency in 2028, and it’s going to be at the fault of your president, Donald Trump.” He claimed Trump is “blowing it,” pointing to escalating tensions over the administration’s  immigration crackdown in Minnesota  and his failure to meet  campaign promises  to lower the  cost of living .  “He’s blowing it for himself, he’s going to blow it for the GOP, he’s going to blow it for Congress, he’s going to blow it for the Senate, and he’s likely going to blow it for the White House, all because of what I said from day 1: The man don’t know how to act,” Smith said....
