Crash and fire unfold near overpass bridge, force officials to close all lanes of Interstate 65 northbound on south side of Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS — A crash and fire forced officials to close Interstate 65 northbound on the south side of Indianapolis Sunday night.
According to a notification from the Indiana Department of Transportation, all lanes of I-65 northbound were shut down at mile marker 109 near Raymond Street around 6:30 p.m. INDOT’s initial notification indicated that a crash was the reason for the closure.

At 8:38 p.m., INDOT reported that an inspector had determined that the fire-damaged bridge was structurally sound. All lanes of I-65 northbound were opened at mile marker 109 after the inspector determined the bridge was structurally sound.
In total, I-65 northbound was shut down for more than two hours while crews worked at the scene.
